Listen to us to understand each other better – El Mostrador

Our country is experiencing fundamental weeks of proposals, definitions and debates around the Chile that we want to forge in the coming decades.
However, many of us are witnessing how this enormous opportunity to exchange opinions, to put ourselves in the place of the other, understand their needs and empathize, is giving way to negative attitudes such as verbal violence, the disqualification of those who think differently, lies and the profiling of the fake news, acts that end up hindering and dirtying a process that above all promotes dialogue and citizen participation.
Politically in Chile we are experiencing a historical process that has also been carried out by other countries of the world with different results, but all with a common goal: to deliver a better quality of life to its inhabitants and promote the growth that is so much talked about now, not only economic, but also social and environmental. Because it is useless to have the best macroeconomic plans, if we do not take care of the environment where we want to carry out these objectives, nor do we worry about the well-being of the people who will be the executors of these transformations.
That same comprehensive view is what I would like to take to the terrain of the discussions that are taking place today. Debating and arguing is all well and good, it allows us to expand knowledge, to investigate, to realize that widespread beliefs are actually not that true and it also makes us question ourselves. A good debate allows you to present a position and listen to that of the other, always in a framework of respect. The open-mindedness that is created also makes it easier for us to understand the reality of groups that have no voice, but are also part of the whole.
That is why I think it is important that, beyond the conjuncture, we learn to develop in all areas more loving and fraternal dialogues that allow us to move forward. Like any sports or musical activity, this is a skill that can be developed with constant practice. Entrepreneurs know this all too well. The new era has led us to have to develop ventures that have in their genesis a loving relationship with the environment in which they are inserted and the relationship between their members inside: transforming the dynamics, generating instances of participation and promoting forms of relationship among their collaborators that lead it to become loving companies.
In this new world that we want to create, it is no longer better who seeks to convince from a position of authority or power, but who empowers others to act, participate, use the available tools and develop talents that they had hidden. I like to think of countries, companies and communities as an inverted pyramid structure, where before it was the leaders who were at the top, but today they are the supports that give the support so that all the members can be an active part of the matrix.
We live in community and because of that, differences between people can be the best attribute for creation and collaboration. In this sense, I faithfully believe that those who first and fastest understand and put it into practice, will not only be setting the tone and understanding the needs of building from that base, but they will also be generating new ways of relating according to the new times. Thus, if it is the private world that is most prepared to advance on this path and lead this process, we should not hesitate to travel in it.

I know we have a lot to learn to make this a widespread reality, but from now on we can start with the most basic, listen to each other and take care of the details in relationships with others. Let us not spoil this great opportunity.
