Mexico wishes colombia’s new president success

During his stay in Bogotá, the foreign minister held working meetings with representatives of the European Union, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Palestine and Peru.With the President of the Republic of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, the head of Mexican diplomacy agreed to promote greater trade and cooperation between both countries. In a separate meeting with the President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves, Secretary Ebrard thanked Costa Rica for its interest in resuming its negotiation process with a view to joining as a member state of the Pacific Alliance. The Mexican Foreign Minister also conveyed the greetings of President López Obrador and discussed the preparations for the next visit of President Chaves to Mexico.In the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, Riad Al Malki, the interest in strengthening political dialogue and cooperation with this country was reiterated, so both foreign ministers signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of a Mechanism for Consultations on Matters of Common Interest, which will allow periodic consultations on bilateral issues, regional and international issues. He also held a productive meeting with the Vice President of Peru, Dina Boluarte, and the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, to follow up and deepen the agenda agreed during Secretary Ebrard’s meeting with President Castillo on August 3. Officials from Mexico and Peru decided to establish working groups to promote bilateral cooperation projects in the field of lithium, energy and aerospace; in addition to continuing to work within the framework of the Pacific Alliance with a view to the XVII Summit next November. For his part, in the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Business of Portugal, who attended Bogotá also as a representative of the European Union to the ceremony of transfer of command, they agreed to boost the bilateral economic relationship with the visit of a Portuguese business mission to our country before the end of the year, in addition to advancing in the ratification of the Mexico-EU Global Agreement and restoring the bi-regional CELAC-EU dialogue with an upcoming ministerial meeting. Finally, in the meetings with Latin American countries, the foreign minister presented Dr. Nadine Gasman as the Mexican candidate for the General Secretariat of the Pan American Health Organization, an organization that requires an urgent change of direction after being ineffective in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
