Mazatlan. The United Nations (UN) through the Committee on Enforced Disappearance (CED) issued an urgent action that calls on the Mexican authorities to take the necessary measures to address the case of Yajaira Sugey Parra Hernández, 20, a young woman from Torreón, Coahuila who disappeared on September 4 in Mazatlan, Sinaloa when they had already left their lodging center and were heading to their destination. Almost a year after the fact, both the Prosecutor’s Office of Sinaloa and that of Coahuila have failed to comply with the search and investigation to find their location, indicates the Juan Fray de Larios Center for Human Rights, with offices in Saltillo, Coahuila. It qualifies as deficient the investigation of the authorities, in addition to the fact that they have not typified this case as a disappearance and consider it as deprivation of liberty by absence. We recommend you read: Sugey’s family also claims that they have been denied information about the case and that they have not been granted security measures during the searches they have conducted. Faced with this situation, the UN calls for the sanctioning of the authorities that hinder the effectiveness of the investigation and asks to guarantee protection measures for the family.
