Begins the film series “Cinema for Identity, Grandmothers 45 years”

Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo and the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) present the beginning of the cycle “Cinema for Identity, Grandmothers 45 years”, a proposal with free admission.

Starting this coming Thursday, August 18 at 6 p.m., where you can see the film “La casa de los conejos”, by Valeria Selinger, in the Auditorium of the House for Identity, located in the Space Memory and Human Rights Ex ESMA (Av. del Libertador 8151, CABA).

Based on the book by Argentine author Laura Alcoba, who narrates her own experiences, she describes the dark years of the last military dictatorship through the eyes of an eight-year-old girl who lives with her mother and prevents them from being discovered. Therefore, they move to a “rabbit farm” located in a rural area on the outskirts of the city of La Plata.

The initiative will be extended every Thursday from August to November, with the proposal that the cinema be a space for building meaning and inviting spectators to reflect in a debate that will be organized once the screening of the film is over.

Debate that for this occasion, the director Selinger will be present, along with Camilo Juárez, son of Enrique “Quique” Juárez, member of Cine y Liberación (disappeared in December 1977), who like the protagonist of the film, was in elementary school when first his mother and then his father were arrested. ” La Casa de los Conejos” was selected in more than 20 international film festivals, of which it received three awards for Best Fiction Feature Film, at Queens World Film Festival 2020 (NY / USA), at FECIR 2020 (Ecuador) and at FICCSUR 2020 (Chile); and at the Guayaquil International Film Festival (Ecuador) he won the Golden Iguana Award for Editing and Art Direction.
