Journalist Juan Arjón López found dead

After being reported missing, Sonoran authorities confirmed the lifeless finding of journalist Juan Arjón López.
Claudia Indira Contreras, head of the Sonora Prosecutor’s Office, reported at a press conference that a body had been found that matches some of the journalist’s tattoos.
“Since we had knowledge through social networks we began to organize searches in all places. Now that the finding is made, he continues to work on the investigation to clarify the case and not rule out any line of investigation,” he said.

The prosecutor confirmed that the body of Arjón López, who was a member of the Group of Independent Communicators and Journalists, showed “signs of violence.”
“The autopsy revealed traumatic brain injury by blunt blow as a cause of death,” reads the statement from the Prosecutor’s Office.
In addition, his family, personal and work environment as a communicator is investigated where interviews, testimonies and other evidence are collected that lead to finding the person or persons likely responsible.

Who was Juan Arjón López?
According to information from Noroeste, Arjón López was last seen between August 2 and 3, 2022, in a food business where he worked after leaving the rehabilitation center where he lived voluntarily.
Juan Arjón López was a journalist and director of the page A qué le temes, known among communicators in the area of San Luis Río Colorado, a municipality bordering the United States.
On its website, it followed up on citizen complaints and published data revealed by police sources and City Council officials.
The journalist last published content on August 2, when he released a report of arrest and recovery of objects after a burglary of a house.
Until last week’s cutoff, authorities acknowledged the killing of 13 journalists so far this year.
