In Japan, the Prime Minister tested positive for coronavirus at the peak of infections

Amid a new wave of infections in the country, the 65-year-old politician began to feel “a slight temperature and cough” on Saturday night. From the government authorities reported that as his symptoms did not worsen, tomorrow he will continue with his activities but remotely, although it is likely that the trip to Tunisia that he had scheduled for next week will be canceled. Kishida, who took office in October last year, received the fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine on Friday, August 12. On Monday the 15th he began his summer vacation, after attending a ceremony for the 77th anniversary of Japan’s surrender in World War II.

In Japan they are going through the seventh wave of infections and currently the total number of infected people reached the record of 17 million. However, the number of deaths from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic remains considerably lower than in other countries, with 36,780 deaths. Yesterday, the island nation recorded the third consecutive day with more than 250,000 cases. In Tokyo, 25,277 cases were detected, 1,504 more than the same day of the previous week, while in Osaka Prefecture there were 23,098 new casesIf health authorities expect infections to continue increasing due to the movements of people during the summer holidays, the Asian power never imposed a strict quarantine.
