Drivers on a school trip tested positive for cocaine and suspended the excursion

Four drivers of a bus that was supposed to transport the students of the Sacred Heart School of Rosario to an excursion tested positive for cocaine and the trip had to be suspended. In turn, drivers were left without their licenses. The incident occurred on Monday night, in the city of Rosario, Santa Fe, when a group of sixth-grade children waited at the door of the educational establishment to travel to Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, Córdoba.However, minutes before leaving, the drivers were subjected to a test that showed that the four men who were supposed to drive the vehicles had consumed cocaine. From this, the company in charge of the transfer suspended the trip since it did not have replacement drivers. For their part, the men said they did not use cocaine, but were coca leaves. “We cannot know if at the time of the test they consumed cocaine or chewed coca leaves,” said the Secretary of Control and Coexistence of Rosario, Carolina Labayru, who indicated that they tested negative for alcohol.

Meanwhile, the director of the school, Gustavo Dimónaco, said on LT8 radio: “For us this was a surprise. We take precautions to hire companies that meet all the requirements demanded by the National Transport commission and one of them is that the drivers are in optimal conditions.” The test showed that they had narcotic content in their saliva. When this happens, the deputy director in charge of the contingent contacts me and we ask the company to send other drivers in optimal conditions,” he added.
