Kay was downgraded to a tropical storm after making landfall on the Baja California peninsula, where it has caused heavy rain and high waves.
During this Friday, Tropical Storm Kay will move off the western coast of Baja California: heavy rains are forecast in Chiapas, Guerrero and Oaxaca, and very strong in Campeche, Michoacán, Morelos, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Veracruz and Yucatan.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported that the forecast of winds with gusts of 100 to 120 kilometers per hour will prevail on the western coast of Baja California; gusts of 80 to 100 km/h in northwestern Sonora and the northern Gulf of California, and gusts of 60 to 80 km/h in northern Baja California Sur.
In addition to waves of 4 to 6 meters high on the coast of Baja California, the north coast of Sonora and in the northern Gulf of California, and 2 to 4 meters high on the western coast of Baja California Sur.

Kay will continue to weaken over the next two days and Saturday night is expected to be a remnant.
“The rains caused by Kay could increase the flows of rivers and streams, as well as cause flooding in low-lying areas, with the possibility of landslides and damage to roads and road sections of the aforementioned entities,” the SMN warned.
The SMN asked the population to take precautions and follow the instructions of the state, municipal and state authorities since the rains could present landslides.
