Salta: A man was arrested while discarding cocaine

Some 146 kilos of cocaine were kidnapped by personnel of the Argentine National Gendarmerie (GNA) after an operation in which a man was arrested after trying to get rid of the drug in a dam in Salta, sources of the force reported today. The procedure announced today occurred on Wednesday when members of Squadron 61 “Salvador Mazza” told the driver of a Renault Oroch truck to park on the bench, at kilometer 1,482 of National Route 34. The detainee was recognized as a non-commissioned officer of the Salta Police.However, the man accelerated and fled the place when he saw the uniformed men approaching, who began a controlled follow-up in which they observed the suspect heading towards the path that leads to the Itiyuro dam.At that moment, the gendarmes deployed a rake and saw the man descend from the road and try to get rid of some boxes, although he was quickly arrested. Upon inspecting the packages, the staff found that inside they contained 140 rectangular packages that were subjected to the Narcotest field test, which yielded a positive result for cocaine with a total weight of 146.78 kilos. In addition, it was detected that the person involved had a 9-millimeter caliber pistol, a magazine and 11 rounds of ammunition. He was also kidnapped three cell phones and 612,000 pesos. As a result of this fact, the intervening magistrate ordered the arrest of the citizen, the kidnapping of the drug, the van and directed three raids in the towns of Salvador Mazza and Embarcación to continue with the investigations.
