99 properties allegedly linked to corruption in Benito Juárez

The Prosecutor’s Office of Mexico City reported that there are already 99 possibly irregular properties and allegedly linked to acts of corruption in the real estate sector that occurred in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office.
In a message to the media, the spokesman of the Prosecutor’s Office, Ulises Lara, said that the investigations “have been considerably strengthened” with complaints from the inhabitants in the colonies of greater surplus value within the demarcation, such as Del Valle, Narvarte, Naples, San José Insurgentes and Christmas Eve.
“We have documented that this series of possible irregularities range from the granting of public deeds with inconsistencies on levels, common and undivided areas, non-compliance in the services promised by the developer; sale of common areas; and non-compliance with the density of exclusively owned spaces, among others,” he said.

He also said that “other names” have emerged of people possibly involved in the operation of this corruption network.

“The Attorney General’s Office is already preparing the evidence to demonstrate its probable participation in the events that the law indicates as a crime and in due course the details will be made known to the citizens, respecting at all times due process and the presumption of innocence,” he said.

On September 8, the Government of Mexico City announced the installation of attention tables for possible victims of corruption in real estate developments in Benito Juárez.
He also reiterated that they will continue to receive complaints from citizens who strengthen the investigations.
