As of Wednesday’s cutoff, Mexico recorded another 2,942 cases of COVID-19 and 26 deaths, according to the latest report from the federal Ministry of Health.
With this, the number of accumulated cases reached 7 million 065 thousand 764 in two and a half years of pandemic.
Meanwhile, the number of people killed stood at 329,837.

Mexico recorded its first case of COVID-19 on February 28, 2020. Since then, the country has gone through five waves of infections.
The current wave is still underway, although federal health officials say it is already on the decline.
In August, undersecretary of prevention and health promotion, Hugo Lopez-Gatell, said that trend was about four weeks old.

However, the official also acknowledged that in October, November and December there may be an uptick in infections in the context of the cold season.
Authorities expect COVID-19 to soon become an endemic disease linked to times of low temperatures.
Meanwhile, health agencies, organizations and experts urge governments and individuals to maintain measures to prevent infections, mainly the use of masks, constant hand washing and social distancing.
