Mexico opens week with 550 cases and one death

Mexico began the week on Monday with 550 new cases of COVID-19 and one death, figures that reflect the downward trend in the behavior of the disease in the country.
With this, the number of accumulated cases in two and a half years of the pandemic reached 7 million 070 thousand 902, according to the daily technical report of the federal Ministry of Health.
The total number of people killed, meanwhile, stood at 329,899.

Mexico has gone through five waves of infections since the first case of COVID-19 was detected in the country, which occurred on February 28, 2020.
Federal health officials say the current wave is already on the downside.
In August, the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, said that this trend was already four weeks old.

However, the official also acknowledged that there may be an uptick in infections in the months of October, November and December, with the start of the cold season.
