Filo.explica│The mystery behind Stephen King’s stories: did It exist?

On September 21, the great Stephen King, the master of terror who has been scaring us for decades, turns 75. He is one of the most famous and successful writers in the world, and many of his books were adapted into films. He was born in Maine, United States, on September 21, 1947. His father left the family when he was two years old. This fact was going to mark the history of the future writer. He, his mother and brother lived in poverty for a long time. They even lived in a trailer. Their mother, Ruth, made a great effort for them. He started writing when he was very young, at the age of 12 or 13. He published short stories in several magazines and in 1974, at the age of 27, he published his first novel, which was a bombshell: “Carrie”. It tells the story of a teenage girl who, while being abused by her schoolmates, discovers that she has psychic powers. And there everything rots. In the 70s Stephen King also published “The Shining”, another great horror story that was taken to the cinema by the great Stanley Kubrick. At that point, the writer was a recognized figure but had not yet exploded as a world star. That was going to come in the following years, the 80sIn 1986 Stephen King published “It”: that cursed clown ruined everything for us. We could never stop being afraid of the fearsome Pennywise. Several film adaptations of the novel were made. With “It,” King became a celebrity. A year later, he published another of his great novels: “Misery”. The book tells the story of a writer who is kidnapped by a fan of his work. The film version is as scary as the original. Stephen King’s life, in many ways, seems out of his own imagination. The abandonment of the father, living in a trailer, addictions, sudden fame, money and, more than twenty years ago, he came very close to dying in a ridiculous way. Another curse that accompanied Stephen King’s life and career was the banning of several of his books from school libraries. Throughout his literary career, Stephen King was criticized for being considered a commercial author and for writing a lot without considering quality. However, the greatest criticism that has been made of him is that of the violence that exists in his literature. In recent years, in addition to continuing to write, King became a prolific tweeter. He always has something to say about current affairs, particularly American politics.
