The President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, met with the former president of the United States, Barack Obama, where they addressed different issues related to democracy and social justice in the continent.
The instance took place within the framework of the President’s tour of New York, where he participated in the 77th UN General Assembly and has held several bilateral meetings with heads of state from around the world. Among them french President Emmanuel Macron and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
Boric shared a photo recording the meeting, highlighting that both converge on the importance of strengthening democracy and its institutions.
“I have had a good meeting with former President Barack Obama. We share the importance of strengthening democracy and its institutions, and for this it is urgent to advance in more listening and social justice in our continent,” he concluded.
