President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) declared that the leak about the Ayotzinapa case was an act of bad faith but that, in his opinion, information should not be hidden.
During the morning press conference, the president said he apologized to the parents of the 43 students, not only for the leak, but “for everything they unfairly did to their children.” “They at one point raised it, that they wanted the truth even if it was painful and yes it is very painful, that is the only issue, the rest is an attitude of vultures,” he said.
The president’s statement comes after the undersecretary of Human Rights of the Ministry of the Interior, Alejandro Encinas, asked the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) to investigate and punish the leak of information about the Ayotzinapa case.

From the National Palace, López Obrador stressed that “the truth is the one that will free us from everything, not hide anything.”
“Maybe those who leaked this document did so thinking that in that way it will no longer have legal validity, but no, this is not a matter of legality, it is a matter of justice, of the State,” he said.
The president stressed that “it is not that as they announced the names we are going to release them because the sacrosanct due process was violated, no. What if they are responsible and committed the crimes? We speak that justice is violated. We are not going to stop demanding punishment from those responsible, these Chicano legaloid maneuvers do not apply.”

“Adversaries seek no justice in the Ayotzinapa case”: AMLO
When asked about the 21 canceled arrest warrants, of which 16 correspond to the military accused of organized crime, including Rafael Hernández Nieto, commander of the 41st Infantry Battalion, at the time of the attack against the normalista students, López Obrador said that “those orders were not in the report of the Ayotzinapa Case Commission” and added that his “adversaries seek that there is no justice.”
“If it is proven that (the military) are allegedly responsible, they have to make their version known and they will clarify if they are guilty or innocent, if they received orders and from whom, the investigation will continue,” he said.
According to the president, the arrest warrants against elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) “do not mean staining the Army.”
“They must assume their responsibility but that does not mean that the whole institution is responsible. The Army is affected if crimes are covered up, if it does not tell the truth and does not act with rectitude,” he said.
“Our adversaries who are responsible for this tragedy either because they participated, covered up or kept silent complicit. We are acting on the basis of the investigation carried out by the Special Commission,” he said.

According to the president, after the delivery of the report on the Ayotzinapa case, it was decided to ask the FGR “to act and that no more time be wasted.”
“We asked that if in the process evidence was presented and other people were responsible, we should proceed but that action be taken, but our adversaries who did not like that allegedly responsible people such as the military, local authorities such as former attorney general Murillo Karam, are already in jail,” López Obrador said.
