Latinus reveals security documents

The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) suffered a cyberattack that exposed alleged emails and documents about security operations, Army contracts and even the health of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, according to a report by the Latinus news site.
The outlet, which said it had accessed several documents, noted that the alleged hack was carried out by activists who obtained six terabytes of information, ranging from 2016 to September of this year.
So far, the federal government has not confirmed the cyberattack or provided information about it.

Host Carlos Loret de Mola said there are intelligence reports on criminal leaders and political figures, as well as transcripts of wiretaps, photographs, directories and follow-up to figures such as the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar.
Hours after Latinus’ report, the hacker group, calling itself Guacamaya, published a site saying it will offer the information obtained to journalists and investigators. The group claims to be against the activities of armies and other security institutions.
“The creation of armies as institutional entities, as an organized and professional armed force, is the guarantee of the states to keep their inhabitants imprisoned,” he says.

“The police minimize the risk that peoples will exercise their dignified right to protest, to destroy the system that oppresses them. The military minimizes social tensions and war, whether within the state or between nation-states, is nothing more than an escape valve for tensions to disintegrate in a more palpable way.”

In his report, Carlos Loret mentioned that the alleged emails exposed have information about the disputes between the Army and the Navy, discrepancy in the number of deaths in operations and data on the security conditions in the country’s customs.
According to Latinus, databases on the strength status of military personnel deployed in the country, the use of aircraft and contracts were also leaked to the Mayan Train and the Tulum Airport, in Quintana Roo.
“This hack exposed sensitive data such as the names and surnames of military personnel who have participated in high-impact operations, which we have decided not to disclose,” Loret said.
On the health of President López Obrador, the alleged military couriers indicate an emergency transfer for López Obrador on January 2 in an air ambulance to the Central Military Hospital, where after a monitoring of several days, the president allegedly suffered a heart condition, as well as hypothyroidism.
