An Argentine citizen died in Punta Cana as a result of an accident that occurred today with a bus of excursions in which Argentine, Chilean and Brazilian tourists were traveling. As it transpired, the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the bus of the tourist company “Suero” when trying to avoid colliding with a truck and a car. In addition to the deceased Argentine, another death was found and a total of 14 seriously injured due to the accident. In total, there were 40 tourists of Argentine, Brazilian and Chilean nationality on board the vehicle, whose destination was Saona Island, located in the Dominican Republic.Spokesmen of the Foreign Ministry reported that “the Embassy is in contact with relatives of the deceased citizen and the hospitalized nationals, as well as with the three medical centers involved and local authorities.” And they added that “not all citizens have been able to be identified for not having personal documentation at the time of boarding the bus.” Finally, the Dominican government ordered the action of a civil defense cabinet that is in charge of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Patricia Mejía.
