Capital government buys short RTP units for high areas of CDMX

The Government of Mexico City announced the purchase of new short RTP units for high areas of the capital that will have free Wifi.
At a press conference, Andrés Lajous, Secretary of Mobility of Mexico City, said that the Passenger Transport Network (RTP) will incorporate 171 state-of-the-art units this year.
“This is the largest fleet. These units are shorter than others and have been purchased with the aim that it can operate in high areas with greater comfort for both users and operators,” said the secretary.

According to Andrés Lajous, the new RTP units will tour the areas of Tlalpan, Magdalena Contreras and Álvaro Obregón.

Features of the new RTP drives
Sergio Benito Osorio, general director of the RTP, mentioned that it is a historic investment since it has more than 2 million pesos.
“These new RTP units will benefit the environment since they will not emit CO2 emissions and will also have greater security since they have 4 cameras and panic button,” he said.
In addition, the director stressed that the new units have the possibility of kneeling for people of the elderly or with a disability and thus can address with fewer problems and easier.
“In these new trucks there is a capacity of 72 people on board, 23 seated and 49 standing,” he said.

For her part, the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, mentioned that her commitment was that at the end of her government the CDMX would have a fleet of 800 RTP buses and that so far there are 467.
“If we have better public transport, private transport will be left and thus the congestion in the capital can be solved,” he said.
