Carabineros rules out their participation in the fall of man on the banks of the Mapocho River

Carabineros personnel are investigating the fall of a person into the Mapocho River. This, within the framework of various demonstrations in commemoration of the first anniversary of the death of Denisse Cortés.
The protests were registered in sectors near Plaza Baquedano and in the surroundings of the Lastarria neighborhood and the Forest Park. This caused that personnel of The Public Order Control (COP) of the Carabineros had to disperse those who clashed with them.
In that context and for reasons that remain unclear, one person fell to the banks of the Mapocho River. In the first instance, a group of people descended to grant help to the man. Moments later. Carabineros assisted him and he was transferred by personnel of the Emergency Medical Care Service (Samu) to the former Central Post.
Despite the fact that at one point one of the Carabineros water tanks was blamed as the culprit of the fact, the institution denied the accusations and shared an aerial audiovisual record.
“Faced with accusations that circulate in social networks of a person who falls into the river, we clarify that moments before the fall, in the sector before demonstrations, the water cart was not used while the place was cleared. And that once the alert of the fall was received, Public Order Control personnel immediately attended to provide help to the affected and supported in the help by SAMU personnel, “explained Carabineros.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office instructed detectives from the Human Rights Brigade of the Investigative Police (PDI) to carry out the corresponding inquiries to establish the reasons for the event.
