On October 20, 2010, a demonstration of outsourced workers of the Roca railway ended with the murder of Mariano Ferreyra, a militant of the Partido Obrero.Twelve years after his death, who was responsible? Are there detainees for the crime? What traces did this fact leave in social movements and street demonstrations? In mid-2010, outsourced workers in the cleaning sector of the Roca train tried to organize to ask for a permanent plant. One of them, Andrés Padellaro, wanted to run, but the company moved him from station to prevent his candidacy. In addition, there were several layoffs. 

The conflict was not resolved and escalated. The workers carried out forceful measures that included cutting off roads. The Railway Union, the official union of the sector, began a campaign with flyers and parades that said “railway workers do not cut the tracks”. Thus came the fateful October 20, 2010, day in which a massive march was made that left from Avellaneda.Mariano Ferreyra was a militant of the Workers’ Party and had mobilized together with social and political organizations to support the claim of the outsourced workers. When the Railway Union mob shot them, the result was three wounded and one killed: Mariano.Su murder became a symbol of the struggle of the workers in the street, and of the collusion between the union mobs and the political and union power. From his death books were written and documentaries were made. Although those responsible for the murder of Mariano Ferreyra were convicted, the events of that October 20, 2010 continue to leave their mark.
