Alberto Fernández met with the mayor of Rome

President Alberto Fernández met this afternoon with the mayor of the city of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, at Casa Rosada and reviewed the common work agenda and the global scenario. After the meeting, the communal chief of the Italian capital stressed that they share with the president “many values and principles of justice, equity, environmental sustainability and inclusion”, while reaffirming “the reinforced commitment to deepen ties” between both countries. In that sense, Gualtieri highlighted the figure of the President by remarking that “he is a man who firmly believes in the values of justice and democracy.” In addition, he explained: “We talked about the movement of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo and the importance of continuing with this policy of remembrance.”
The mayor and the head of state also discussed Rome’s candidacy for the 2030 world expo. “We talked about the need for a more just and balanced world order,” explained the Italian politician, noting that “our candidacy for Expo Rome 2030 seeks to embody these values and we hope that Argentina will support us.” The meeting was attended by the Italian ambassador to Argentina, Fabrizio Lucentini; the Diplomatic Adviser, Gabriele Annis; the counselor, Ugo Papi; and the Political Counselor of the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, Alberto Scarano.Gualtieri, is in Argentina to participate in the global summit of mayors for climate change. Meeting of which more than one hundred mayors of the world participate, where they discuss “urgent actions” to face global warming and seek carbon neutrality. The Roman mayor was part of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, with whose representatives the Argentine president met on September 1 at Casa Rosada.
