Minister Vallejo indicates that the opposition’s pension reform agreement is closer “to the ideas of José Piñera than to those of Sebastián Piñera”

After the agreement presented by Chile Vamos, National Renewal, Evópoli, Republicans, People’s Party (PDG), independents and the UDI, the Minister of Government, Camila Vallejo, said that the document “worried her” and that the Government will present next week the pension reform project.
In that line, the Secretary of State said that the text prepared by the opposition “worried us a little because this proposal is closer to the ideas of José Piñera than to those of Sebastián Piñera. It makes us go to the extreme of what we are.”
Vallejo explained that the pension system created and defended by José Piñera, “is an extreme of private administration, practically mandatory, there are not many alternatives in the system, it is forced savings.” This, to the detriment of the “mixed and moderate” system sought by the Government.
Along the same lines, the spokeswoman called for “reflection on not allowing ourselves to go backwards. The opposition’s proposal reinforces the extreme in which we have been for a long time and does not allow us to move forward, to evolve.”
On the other hand, the Secretary of State indicated that “the design of this reform is mainly designed to generate an immediate increase for retirees in our country.” He also confirmed that the project will be presented in the coming days.
“Next week it can be presented to the public, to the public, by President Gabriel Boric,” Vallejo concluded.
