‘Infiltrators’ in FGR wanted to avoid arrest of Murillo Karam: AMLO

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that there were “infiltrators” within the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) who did not want former Attorney General Jesús Murillo Karam arrested for the investigation of the Ayotzinapa case.
He warned that, if they waited another month, no one would be arrested because these same “infiltrators or surprised” would have been responsible for informing them about the processes.
“What they wanted, clearly speaking, is for Attorney General Murillo Karam not to be arrested. Now, the second step of these infiltrators or surprised or considered not taken into account, or strict defenders of due process, because there was someone who told me, if they had waited a month it would have been impeccable, if we wait a month, we do not arrest anyone, “he said.

At a press conference, he said that there was a rebellion within the prosecutor’s office and that they wanted to “dynamite the process” of the investigation by expanding the list of alleged perpetrators, but it was decided to stick to the report.

López Obrador again supported the work of the Undersecretary of Human Rights, Alejandro Encinas, and the report of the Truth Commission for the Ayotzinapa case; He said the evidence is strong.

“Now the evidence is not solid, they are screen photographs, it was invented, no, I already said it and Alejandro Encinas has all the complementary data, for each case there are 10 tests,” he said.
Arrest of Murillo Karam
Jesús Murillo Karam, prosecutor during the government of Enrique Peña Nieto, was arrested on Friday, August 19, at his home, located in the Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood, for the crimes of torture, forced disappearance and crimes against the administration of justice for the Ayotzinapa case.
On August 24, a judge ordered the connection to trial and justified preventive detention as a precautionary measure to Jesús Murillo Karam in the North Prison.
