Deputies approve in commissions changes to ‘agree’ dignified vacations

The Labor and Social Welfare Commission in the Chamber of Deputies approved the modified opinion of the reform promoted as “decent vacations”, with which during the first working year workers will have 12 days of vacation, but only six can take them continuously and the rest must agree with their employer.
The draft was approved with 17 votes in favor, four against and two abstentions.
The opinion that modifies the Federal Labor Law must be analyzed and voted on in the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies.

Decent holidays for 12 days
Originally, the reform approved in the Senate last November established that the vacation days that a worker should have after his first year employed in a company or institution would be from the current six to 12.

However, the Committee on Labor and Social Welfare issued an opinion with changes to Article 78, with the modifications that were approved on Tuesday.
The reform was promoted by civil organizations, activists and citizens who demand greater attention to rest and mental health of workers.
According to the OECD, Mexico is one of the least productive countries, despite the fact that 2,137 hours are worked per year, 24% more than the average; however, this is not reflected in GDP, which is below the OECD average.
