Looting reported in Sinaloa after arrest of Ovidio Guzmán

After the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán, son of Joaquín, “el Chapo”, Guzmán, in Culiacán, Sinaloa, looting of different convenience stores and supermarkets has been reported on social networks.

In several videos disseminated on social networks, some people are seen taking various items from a Bodega Aurrerá and some convenience stores.

The looting was reported in different parts of Culiacán, and so far, according to the Secretariat of Public Security and Municipal Traffic of Culiacán, 6 people were arrested.

“As part of the coordinated actions between federal, state and municipal authorities to recover order and rule of law in Culiacán, preventive police of the Secretariat of Public Security and Municipal Traffic (SSPYTM) arrested six people for the commission of alleged acts of vandalism and robberies in a self-service store located at the intersection of Emiliano Zapata and Maquío Clouthier boulevards.”

In the affected areas, a guard and surveillance operation was mounted to prevent this type of action.
Recapture of Ovidio Guzmán
Authorities recaptured Ovidio Guzmán, alleged drug trafficker of the Sinaloa Cartel and son of Joaquín el “Chapo Guzmán”, which caused a day of shootings and blockades in Culiacán.
The capture was made during an operation around 6:20 in the morning of this January 5, in the syndicate of Jesús María, within Culiacán.
The actions provoked strong clashes and blockades in several parts of the municipality that even affected transport services, roads, among others.
