Codelco reports death of worker in El Teniente Division

With deep sorrow, Codelco reported the death of 28-year-old worker Frank Olguín Mori, a maintenance mechanic for the Schwager company.
According to the preliminary background and for reasons that are being investigated, the accident occurred today, at approximately 3:00 p.m., in circumstances that the worker was performing work at the Primary Crushing plant of the Sewell concentrator, located in El Teniente Division.
Immediately the activities in the area were suspended and the procedures of rigor were initiated, notifying the competent authorities and activating the investigation that allows to determine the causes of this unfortunate fact.
“Codelco expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Frank Olguín Mori, his colleagues and reiterates its call to enhance security as an essential value,” they said from the state.
“Given this painful fact, along with having what is necessary for a transparent and expeditious investigation, the company makes an urgent call to both its workers and those who work in collaborating companies to comply with urgent and long-term measures to ensure compliance with standards and protocols in all their processes,” Codelco added.
The company said that, to promote reflection on this accident, Codelco’s board of directors and the executive president have determined two days of mourning for the entire organization in which public activities, visits, ceremonies and events will be suspended.
