The Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela, confirmed that the businessman who refused to deliver water to fight the forest fire affecting Yumbel, Biobío region, was identified.
“We are identifying and we are going to proceed with the individual who prohibited and prevented the use of water to fight the fires,” Valenzuela said in an interview with 24 horas in which he also confirmed the arrest of three people.

The minister referred to the implications of the businessman’s actions because “the Criminal Code is explicit, that no one can hinder and prevent the use of public or private means to fight forest fires,” he explained.
Valenzuela said that in the next few hours the Interior Ministry will reveal the identity of the businessman who would be the same person who refused to deliver water from his pool to a Spanish pilot.
“There are people, owners of those rafts (pools) who are signaling us, they are putting lines so that we do not take water,” he said.
“It is an uncivil act on their part, seeing the affectation that we are handling at this time. The truth is that this is not the time not to try to draw water,” he concluded.
