Home security: which technology to choose?

According to the study “Workers’ Vacations 2023”, by the Mutual Security, 42% of Chileans will go on vacation this summer. On the other hand, there is a record in perception of insecurity according to the latest measurement of Citizen Peace, which revealed that the fear of being a victim of a crime grew 7.6 percentage points, reaching 28% nationwide.
Fortunately, today there are accessible and easy-to-install technologies that allow us to keep our homes monitored, even remotely. Smart locks, alarms and monitoring cameras serve to take care of the houses when their inhabitants are not in them, and thus avoid theft or any type of damage to the property.
Security cameras are an excellent option for monitoring what happens in the home at all times.
For example, options such as IP cameras use internet connection and are easy to install, since it does not require technicians, which lowers costs.
“Additionally these include an application for tracking and adding the cameras you need to be able to see it on the smartphone. In addition, they include human detection technology that notifies via application or email that there was a movement in your home and thus be able to notify the police or security of the commune, so that they go to check the house, “says Ariel Diaz, head of Acquisitions of CSBYTE, a company specialized in the field.
Alarms are another popular choice. An alarm can detect intrusions and make a loud sound to alert neighbors and deter intruders. In addition, many alarms are connected to 24-hour monitoring centers, which means that even if you are not at home, there will always be someone available to respond in case of emergency.
Digital locks are a convenient and secure solution for entering and leaving your home. No need to worry about losing keys or sharing copies with friends and family. In addition, many digital locks allow you to add and remove users remotely, which means you can control who has access to your home at all times.
Choosing the right technology to improve security in your home depends on your individual needs and preferences. You can also combine the different technologies to achieve a comprehensive and safe solution for the home.
Especially when in the last year there has been greater stress to Chileans due to crime. According to the survey “Mental Health Thermometer in Chile ACHS-UC”, conducted by the Chilean Security Association and the UC Center for Surveys and Longitudinal Studies, the fear of being a victim of a criminal act by respondents reached 70%, up more than 6 points compared to the previous year.
