More than 50,000 people have entered the National Registry of Debtors of Alimony

During this day, the minister of the Supreme Court, Gloria Ana Chevesich, announced new figures on the National Registry of Debtors of Alimony. To date, more than 50,000 people are registered in this list, with a debt of approximately 65 billion pesos.
In addition, in the same line, Chevesich announced that work will begin on a new modality of automatic opening of bank accounts in hearing to guarantee the expeditious collection of pensions. The measure seeks to “modify the culture of non-compliance with an obligation that is essential to cover the basic needs of children and adolescents.”
For her part, the Minister of Women and Gender Equality, Antonia Orellana, commented that these new mechanisms arise from the cooperation of various institutional actors to ensure the payment of pensions.
“This is part of the joint work we have done with the judiciary and the Civil Registry. The projections we make is that it will continue to increase at the same rate as it has done monthly, because we are not yet close to covering the magnitude of parental abandonment with respect to food debt, “said the ministerial authority.
Likewise, Orellana pointed out that the new modality of opening bank accounts responds to the preparation they are making just months before the Law of Parental Responsibility and Effective Payment of Alimony Debts comes into force.
