La Polar acknowledges that it marketed counterfeit products and announces that it will file complaints against “those responsible for this fraud”

After months of investigation, La Polar acknowledged that it marketed counterfeit products of various brands, ensuring that it was deceived by a series of suppliers of the company. As a result, they announced the filing of complaints.
In that sense, they indicated that “specific situations were detected in which the multistore was the victim of fraud, due to the traceability documentation regarding certain Under Armour, Adidas and Wrangler products provided by two external suppliers was false.”
In view of the above, the company declared that it will file complaints and indemnification actions against the representatives of the suppliers KIKI Imports, Global Brands, and other persons who are responsible.
“Polar acted with absolute good faith throughout the purchase process of these products, assisted by the conviction that the products labeled with the Under Armour, Adidas and Wrangler brands, were original and had all the documentary support that accredited that quality. Likewise, the Company carried out the usual control procedures for this type of business,” they maintain.
On the other hand, the company published an essential fact in the Financial Market Commission (CMF), where it points out that, after an investigation in Chile and Pakistan, it detected, in the case of three brands, “it was the victim of fraud by falsified documents by two suppliers”.
According to La Polar, the incident involved three containers, which represented 0.16% of the total products sold annually, and 2.03% of the products sold through the Super Brands, Super Prices, as the off-price model is called.
“We regret that this fact has affected the trust and relationship with our customers, due to the fraudulent actions of certain suppliers. That is why we are taking all the corresponding legal actions to pursue those responsible for this fraud, “they said from the company.
