Bedolla starts certification registration of traditional cooks

Morelia, Michoacán.- Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, instructed to initiate the process of certification of traditional cooks of Michoacán, through the registration of a collective trademark before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), they reported in a statement.
In order to protect the typical gastronomy and the knowledge of traditional cooks, the head of the State Executive asked the secretariats of Economic Development (Sedeco) and Tourism (Sectur), to lead the project so that in the coming months the collective trademark is registered.

He reported that for this, they will be based on the file that was presented to UNESCO to accredit Michoacán as a paradigm of Mexican gastronomy.
In addition to the fact that the SECTUR will be responsible for promoting among the nearly 150 traditional cooks, the formation of a civil association necessary to comply with the provisions of industrial property regulations.
“We have the bases to protect the traditional cuisine of the state and for that, a collective brand must be created with rules of use and processes to accredit the origin and quality in the preparation of traditional dishes,” said Ramírez Bedolla.
In his last visit, the Secretary of Federal Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, recognized that thanks to Michoacán and the traditional cooks, Mexican gastronomy was inscribed by UNESCO on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
