A new edition of the International Human Rights Film Festival arrives

The twentieth edition of the International Human Rights Film Festival (Ficdh), which will feature more than 50 national and international films, will take place from June 1 to 7 in different Buenos Aires venues and in the York cinema of the Buenos Aires town of Vicente López.This year the meeting focuses on digital rights, in order to seek to generate awareness and knowledge about cyberrights, linked to freedom of expression and privacy. The Alliance Française of Buenos Aires, the San Martín Cultural Center, the Incaa Space Km 0 – Gaumont Cinema and Annex A of the Chamber of Deputies, will be the Buenos Aires venues, in addition to the York cinema.Photo: Courtesy of the pressUnder the slogan #Trazades, this edition proposes to reflect, through cinema, on the technologies that reinforce power asymmetries, focusing on inequalities and abuses to achieve a critical and sustainable use of digital tools. The program will have 13 sections: Digital Rights, Environment, Children and Youth, Memory, Migrants, Gender Perspectives, Panorama, Indigenous Peoples, Focus Democracy in Latin America, EngageMedia Window (Asia-Pacific), SIMA Studios Window (United States) and a retrospective of the 20 years of Ficdh.In addition, as every year will take place the Schools section that will screen a selection of these two decades of the festival aimed at young people and 26 films made by students in Didactic functions. Meanwhile, the competitions will be divided into the official categories of Feature Films, Short and Medium-Length Films and Latin American Documentaries; and the prizes will be awarded by the European Delegation in Argentina, Signis, La Haye Media, the Institute in Living Languages “Juan Ramón Fernández”, Gorky Films, Percepciones Textuales and the Argentine Network of Festivals and Audiovisual Samples (Rafma). Finally, the special activities will be face-to-face and an online workshop organized in conjunction with Artists at Risk Connection and Global Voices will address issues related to online freedom of expression, censorship and virtual espionage.
