This Tuesday, May 23, the International Women’s Football Day is celebrated, based on an initiative promoted by the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Football (CONCACAF), with the aim of promoting the development of the sport. It all originated in October 2014, when CONCACAF held a seminar on women’s football in which, among other topics, it proposed to establish this date as the “Annual Women’s Football Day” and to organize on this day year after year activities in all member countries that pursue two main goals: to generate awareness and promote investment. This initiative was later highlighted by FIFA and extended to several countries around the world, through the realization of various actions that aim to recognize and disseminate the discipline. The path of women in football was not easy, although in recent years there has been great growth globally in different aspects. In Argentina, after a long struggle, the players managed to make the activity professional since 2019, which improved the conditions with which they had been competing although they are still far from those of men.
