Director Ezequiel Erriquez premieres the film “La crecida”, starring Marianela Campos, Antonio Buttinger, Natalia Schmechel, Yrma da Rosa, Ramón Tauret and Casimiro Lipowsky. It will hit theaters on July 13.What is it about? Panambí, a town on the border between Argentina and Brazil, is soon buried by the river. The construction of a hydroelectric dam disrupts the quiet life of the place, and the inhabitants are forced to move to a newly built precarious neighborhood on the outskirts. The Zuckers, a multi-ethnic and traditional family, are torn between migrating to Brazil in search of a better future, or staying near their village where their neighbors have already settled.Photo: Courtesy of the press“The film dialogues between fiction and documentary. I wrote the script based on talks I had with different residents of the area about the ‘Garabí – Panambí’ hydroelectric project between Argentina and Brazil,” the director said in a press release. Then he added: “In all the stories there was the uncertainty of not knowing where they were going to live and the fear of losing everything. I remember the first time I went to Panambí, where we finally filmed the film, the locals told me that their houses were going to be 11 meters underwater. That image struck me, and that’s how I decided to make ‘La crecida.'”
