In Michoacán we defend education; Textbooks will reach all schools: Bedolla

Zitácuaro, Michoacán. – Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, emphasized that primary and secondary students in Michoacán, will receive in a timely manner the free textbooks distributed by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), for the next school year 2023-2024, according to a statement.
During his speech in the second government report of the City of Zitácuaro, the president said that, in accordance with constitutional law, the delivery of textbooks for the basic training of girls and boys will be defended, despite attempts to prohibit or destroy them for partisan ideologies.
“Preventing the people from accessing books, education, is a hallmark of the most sinister characters in history, such as Hitler, Pinochet and now the right wing of Mexico. And I reiterate, judges should be more concerned with sentencing criminals than preventing the distribution of textbooks,” he said.

Ramírez Bedolla added that the call to burn the books, as party leaders did, is a conservative and retrograde reaction that offends public, secular, inclusive and universal education, so “we will not allow this right to be violated.”
On the other hand, he reaffirmed his commitment as municipal governor and thanked the municipal president, Antonio Ixtláhuac Orihuela, for the solidarity to work together on regional works such as the rehabilitation of state roads that connect San Felipe los Alzati, Ocampo, Angangueo and Tlalpujahua, with an investment of 65 million pesos from the State Contributions Fund for the Infrastructure of Municipal Public Services (Faeispum).
“We are working to attract more investment in the Oriente region with companies such as Arauco and important steps have been taken to complete the construction of the new IMSS hospital in Zitácuaro with which medical services for entitled workers and their families will be expanded.”
He also stressed that, through the Peace Strengthening Fund (Fortapaz), Zitácuaro has a C2 Intelligence Camera Control Center and covers the international standard of number of police by population rate, in addition to supporting the volunteer and municipal fire departments with an investment of 9 million pesos.
