The Broadway musical “Little Women” arrives for the first time in Argentina

The Broadway musical “Little Women” arrives at the Pablo Neruda Hall of the La Plaza Complex in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Inspired by the classic semi-autobiographical novel by Louisa May Alcott, the production transports viewers to the world of four sisters who transit adolescence in the nineteenth century.The show, which will take place every Wednesday at 20:45 from September 6, marks its first presentation in Latin America. It features an ensemble of ten musicians on stage and presents a version of the story in which the book and songs were adapted by Lucía Alfonsín, Julieta Sverdlick and Patricio Grippo Alterio.La plot of “Little Women” revolves around Jo March, a free-spirited young woman who lives with her beloved mother, Marmee, and her three sisters: Meg, with more traditional aspirations; shy Beth; and Amy, a dreamer in search of her great love. Focusing on the 1860s, the story follows the challenges and longings of these sisters as they face economic hardship, their father’s absence due to the American Civil War, and issues such as death and romance. The protagonist, Jo, struggles to sell her stories in a publishing environment for women artists. However, an encounter with her teacher, Mr. Bhaer, prompts her to tell her own story. The musical captures the timeless essence of original literature, focusing on the bonds between mothers and daughters and family bonding. The cast is headed by prominent actresses such as Déborah Turza, Carmela Barsamián, María Florencia Zapana, Macarena Giraldez and Aldana Eve. In addition, figures such as Alfredo Alessandroni, Leandro Bassano, Bruno Coccia, Tiki Lovera and Julián Rubino are also part of the representation. The general direction is in charge of Juan Álvarez Prado, while Mariano Barreiro and Delfina García Escudero lead the music and choreographies, respectively. The staging is complemented by a band of live musicians, including Maxi Cataldi, Bruno Espinola, Agustín Gallo Pinedo, Mariano García, Hernán Maisa, Emi Oilime, Natacha Tello, Emanuel Teper, La Pipo and Maite Unzurrunzaga.Tickets for the performances are now available for purchase on the official Plateanet website.
