The duo formed by Hugo Fattoruso and Tomohiro Yahiro present “Dos Orientales: En Vivo en Buenos Aires”

Live in Buenos Aires is a live record recorded in the capital of Argentina in March 2013 by the duo formed by musicians Hugo Fattoruso (Uruguay) and Tomohiro Yahiro (Japan), which sees the light on black vinyl of 180 grams imported from France through the label ZORN Records.Hugo Fattoruso (Montevideo, 1943) perceives himself as an “artisan of music”. It is a good way to define this eminent Uruguayan pianist, keyboardist, accordionist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and vocalist. During his prolific career that began in his childhood with his father Antonio and his brother (the famous drummer) Osvaldo, he lived in Uruguay, the United States, Brazil and Argentina, countries where he became, deservedly, a “musician of musicians”. Currently dedicated to his solo career and multiple projects, Fattoruso toured the world on countless occasions, being an essential part of legendary bands such as OPA, the Trio Fattoruso, Los Shakers and unforgettable formations of Chico Buarque and Djavan. In 2019, he received the Latin Grammy Award for Musical Excellence.  For his part, Tomohiro Yahiro (Tokyo, 1961) is a prominent Japanese percussionist who spent his childhood and adolescence in the Canary Islands (Spain), where he began his musical career, becoming the main Japanese instrumentalist specialized in Afro-Latin rhythms. Back in his country, he played with several of Japan’s leading jazz artists. Much required for his particular skills as a percussionist dedicated to this type of music, he made countless recordings and tours with renowned artists such as Spick and Span, Hugo and Osvaldo Fattoruso, Gaia Cuatro, Toninho Horta, Pedro Aznar, Joyce, Toninho Horta, Joao Bosco, Leila Pinheiro and Alcione. He was producer of the African percussion group Sophie Ker Gui when the World Cup was held in South Korea and Japan in 2002. Since 2007, Dos Orientales made 13 consecutive annual tours of Japan, only interrupted in 2020 by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The duo visited more than 70 cities, apart from other countries such as South Korea, Malaysia, Germany, Spain and Hungary. Live in Buenos Aires is the first live edition of the group, after the publication of the celebrated studio albums Dos Orientales (2010), Orienta (2013) and Tercer viaje (2016) that covers different genres of world music and jazz and that generates a very interesting artistic exchange between the “Dos Orientes”.  This album captures, for the first time live, the sound of Dos Orientales, product of a mutual respect and admiration between the musicians and their countries of origin. Hugo deeply enjoys the culture of Japan and its music, while Tomohiro feels a true love for the candombe of Uruguay.
