Evo Morales said he was “forced” to be a candidate for president of Bolivia in 2025

This Sunday, the former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, said that he was “forced” to be a presidential candidate for the 2025 elections because he has decided to “battle” against the division within the Movement to Socialism (MAS), the ruling party. Through his local radio program Kawsachun Coca, he said: “They have convinced me that I am going to be a candidate, they have forced me, of course the people want, but they are forcing me.” “We are not going to give up and we are going to be in this hard democratic battle, now to build proposals, I have a meeting with businessmen, I welcome proposals, we must build the post-bicentennial agenda,” he added. In addition, he assured that there is a “dirty” campaign against him because the opposition calls him a “drug trafficker” and the government of President Luis Arce and Vice President David Choquehuanca call him the “king of cocaine.” On the other hand, through his X account, he warned that government authorities have the objective of “defenestrating us with political processes, even physically eliminating us,” and then, he thanked those who support him: “I am very grateful to our sisters and brothers who warn us from the Ministry of Government the intentions they have to arrest us and deliver us to the United States.” This announcement by Morales occurs a few days before the national congress of the MAS, which will be between October 3 and 5 in the tropic of Cochabamba, which is not only one of his political strongholds, but has also been a source of dispute among the ruling party.
