Tragic storm in Bahía Blanca: Milei and Kicillof meet with the crisis committee

A week after his inauguration, President Javier Milei is facing the first extreme situation due to the strong storm that hit the country in the last few hours and mainly the city of Bahía Blanca, where 13 people have died. In view of this, he decided to travel to the city with a delegation made up of Guillermo Francos (Minister of the Interior), Patricia Bullrich (Minister of Security), Sandra Pettovello (Minister of Human Capital), Luis Petri (Minister of Defense) and Karina Milei (Secretary General of the Presidency). In this way, once present there, the Presidential Spokesperson communicated that they will all be based in the emergency operations committee and will also go to the Club Bahiense del Norte, the epicenter of the tragedy. In addition, he met with the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, who arrived a few hours earlier, and the local mayor, Federico Susbielles. In fact, the president’s head of communication, Manuel Adorni, shared an image of the meeting and said: “Joint effort. End.” It is worth noting that, on Saturday night, a statement was issued through the Office of the President informing that the Cabinet was monitoring the situation and that “the President of the Nation expresses his deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who died due to the storm.” In addition, in the early hours of Sunday, the Vice President of the Nation, Victoria Villarruel, also expressed her dismay: “My hug and condolences to the families of the deceased, as well as concern for the state of the injured. We ask the population to check the weather alerts in nearby cities. All Argentines accompany them in their pain.” On Saturday night and early Sunday morning, a strong storm with wind gusts of up to 140 kilometers per hour resulted in 13 deaths and several serious injuries. This unfortunate event caused the collapse of the roof of the Bahiense Club del Norte de Bahía Blanca, which collapsed on people who were at a sports match. This is how an emergency operation was deployed in which more than 250 personnel participated, including Civil Defense agents, Buenos Aires Police, firefighters, traffic agents and medical personnel. It was also learned that more than 14 people were reported in critical condition, distributed in different hospitals in the city.
