Morelia, Michoacán. – With the purpose of carrying out road reengineering studies necessary for the multi-year rehabilitation that is being developed in the Morelia bypass, the Secretariat of Communications and Public Works (SCOP), closed the return located between Periférico Paseo de la República and Mártires de la Plaza Avenue at kilometer 19+700, as reported through a statement.
The action, which is part of the multi-year rehabilitation work of 26 kilometers of the peripheral of the Michoacan capital, was carried out to analyze the road behavior in the area and thus decide on the definitive closure of the crossing.
Currently, more than 71,000 vehicles pass through per day, whose flow is interrupted by the return operation, which is used by less than 3,500 vehicles a day that enter and leave Mártires de la Plaza Avenue, which corresponds to less than 5% of the total volume of traffic in the area.
The SCOP, through the Directorate of Roads and Highways, presented through social networks, a sketch with the road alternatives for returns to and from Periférico Paseo de la República, which seeks to modify the traffic scheme with greater fluidity and road agility.
It should be noted that the multi-nautical work of the Morelia bypass has an investment of 194.7 million pesos and that it currently has an advance of 26 percent in the rehabilitation of 26 kilometers with the placement of new high-performance asphalt layer.
