It has been 100 days since the beginning of the conflict between Israel and the Islamist movement Hamas. According to the local Ministry of Health, at least 135 people were killed and 312 wounded after the latest attacks on the Gaza Strip. The escalation of violence reached its peak with a devastating attack on a residential building in the Daraj neighbourhood of Gaza City, where at least 20 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed. Three other civilians were killed in an Israeli attack in Beit Lahia, north of the enclave, adding more grief to an already besieged population. The southern Gaza Strip also witnessed the fury of night and morning shelling, especially in the Hamas stronghold of Khan Yunis, according to reports from witnesses and journalists. The telephone and internet network, essential for relief operations, was once again out of service, complicating the Palestine Red Crescent’s efforts to treat the wounded. The total number of dead and wounded since the start of the conflict on 7 October is alarming: more than 23,800 dead and 60,317 wounded, according to the latest tally from the Gazan Ministry of Health. Thousands of people are trapped in the rubble as the U.N. laments mounting difficulties in aid operations, accusing the Israeli military of limiting fuel supplies crucial to hospitals. Meanwhile, in Israel, relatives of hostages and missing persons from the Hamas raid announced a rally in Tel Aviv to commemorate 100 days since the kidnappings and demand the release of their loved ones. The event will feature a recorded message from French President Emmanuel Macron.La violence also reached the West Bank, where three people were killed by Israeli forces. This territory, occupied by Israel since 1967, experienced an increase in violence, with at least 337 people killed by Israeli troops or settlers, according to the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health.
