Mexico. The personal database of nearly 300 journalists attending Mexican President AMLO’s morning press conference was leaked on internet forums.
Víctor Ruiz, of the cybersecurity firm SILIKN, reported on the leak and said that it is an attack on the Presidential Press Accreditation System.
“A database of the Presidential Press Accreditation System (https://acreditacionprensa.alfa.gob.mx/), which has the data of more than 300 journalists, both national and foreign, was leaked in clandestine forums.”
“There are passports, IDs, RFCs, names, emails, telephone, address, date of birth, CURP and all the personal data of the journalists who are accredited to attend the morning conference, which is a great risk for them or their families, given the attacks we have seen against these professionals throughout the country,” said the specialist.
In addition, he said that the low spending on cybersecurity could be a factor, stating that a very old system is used and as has happened on other occasions with software from companies such as Microsoft, which, by no longer paying for updates, does not have security updates.
