“It’s a stupid reasoning”: Kicillof replied to Jorge Macri about the care in Buenos Aires public hospitals

The governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, came out to respond in harsh terms to the head of the Buenos Aires government, Jorge Macri, for announcing that he will prioritize the care of the residents of the City of Buenos Aires in the public hospitals of the Federal Capital. “It’s stupid reasoning,” he shot back. In a normal season we have 10 million tourists, many of whom are from the Federal Capital who go to Mar del Plata, to Gesell, to Pinamar, to Mar de Ajó… When did you hear me say, launching Operation Sol, that I am going to ask for their address to see if I charge them and attend to them?” said the provincial governor in statements to the news channel TV Chronicle. From Hurlingham, together with Mayor Damián Selci, Kicillof said that the Buenos Aires mayor’s proposal “does not make much sense.” He also pointed out that according to data handled by the City Government itself, there are two or three million Buenos Aires residents who go to work daily in the Federal Capital: “With what they do as a laborer, they contribute gross income. If we do the math, most of the taxes of the City of Buenos Aires are the product of the work of Buenos Aires residents who go there, look how stupid the reasoning is.” The discussion is not new, but it was reignited after a video went viral last weekend in which a doctor at the Argerich Hospital argued with a group of people who had been waiting for several hours to be seen. Faced with the complaints and “overwhelmed”, the professional asked them where they came from. He then discovered that they had all come from the Province of Buenos Aires.” We are going to continue making all the effort we can, but we are also designing diagnostic and care systems for the people of Buenos Aires where we prioritize them,” announced the head of the Buenos Aires government this morning. And while he acknowledged that many Buenos Aires residents go to work in the City, and contribute to the district, he called on the Province led by Kicillof to “assume its health responsibilities in the place of origin.”
