Mexico. – The President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, pointed out that the problem of pollution in the metropolitan area of Monterrey, Nuevo León, is not due to the activities of the Cadereyta refinery. They blame the refinery, Cadereyta, studies have been done, it can be proven, one day we are going to invite the manager of the refinery and the people responsible for Pemex here to explain how the refinery takes care not to affect, not to violate the rules, to adhere to the rules established by the laws.” The president denied these accusations and alluded to the fact that there is a large presence of companies in that area: “Very clearly it can be seen that the contamination has to do with many other companies, it has only been easy for them to blame the refinery.” During his morning conference, López Obrador mentioned that little by little environmental regulations have to be put in place and that there are no violations or privileges for certain companies, to avoid corruption. Recall that the refinery was inaugurated on March 18, 1979 in Cadereyta Jiménez and has been a topic of conversation in recent days due to the alleged pollution it generates in the state of Nuevo León.
