Faced with a problematic scenario with the governors of different provinces due to the proposals promoted by the current government, Guillermo Francos -Minister of the Interior- assured that “there is no war with the interior”, and pointed out the reason for the elimination of the Compensatory Fund for Public Transport in the Interior of the Country. There has been a wide negative impact on the provinces, a situation that is not lost on the current administration. In an interview with Radio Mitre, Francos referred to the controversial reform and explained the reasons for the decision. “There is no war with the interior. There is a legally appropriate organization of public resources. Since the Fiscal Pact of 2017 and 2018 it was clear that provincial transport was a responsibility of the provinces,” he said. In this regard, the minister remarked that the Compensatory Fund was a “Covid fund created in 2020 to help transport”, and with the control of the pandemic situation, it no longer corresponds. Covid passed but the fund remained as it always does in Argentina. What the government is doing is saying that, if this fiscal pact is in force, this fund disappears, it does not exist. There is no longer a Covid fund,” he said.
