The fire persists in Los Alerces National Park, with more than 8,000 hectares consumed

The forest fire in Los Alerces National Park continues to advance, with a devastated area that has already reached 8,205 hectares. According to the latest report issued by the Unified Park Command and the Provincial Fire Management Service of Chubut, the fire persists with areas of high intensity in different parts, making it difficult to fully control. Despite continued efforts, the fire remains active at the head, flanks and tail, posing a constant challenge to brigades on the ground. Today, 336 fighters are working in the line of fire, while more reinforcements are expected to arrive from different provinces of the country. The official report highlights that the personnel deployed are focused on strengthening the perimeter of the fire using hand tools and water lines to prevent new outbreaks. In addition, overflights are maintained to monitor hot spots, with the support of drones and fixed cameras. Coordination between field personnel and ancillary resources, such as aircraft and road machinery, was critical in the extinguishing efforts. The National Fire Management Service coordinated helicopter and hydrant aircraft operations to optimize the response to the incident. As for the weather conditions, winds are expected to reach speeds of 20 to 30 km/h coming from the north, with a subsequent rotation to the west during the morning. The high temperatures, with a predicted high of 30 degrees and a minimum relative humidity of 10%, add additional difficulties to controlling the fire. Despite the magnitude of the fire, the tourist services enabled in the area continue to operate normally. However, a restriction was imposed on navigation in certain areas of Lake Futalaufquen, and drivers are urged to drive with extreme caution on Provincial Route 71 due to emergency vehicle traffic.
