The trial prosecutor Abel Córdoba asked this Monday for a sentence of six years in prison for businessman Lázaro Báez for money laundering and four to the “repentant” Leonardo Fariña.According to different judicial sources, the judge made the request before the Federal Oral Court 4 in which he claimed the sentence of six years in prison for the businessman and a “unified” sentence of six years in prison for Fariña. A money laundering operation based on the purchase and sale of the “Entrevero”, a field in the Republic of Uruguay for which Fariña intervened on the alleged mandate of Báez.That commercial operation was for an amount of 14 million pesos. The prosecutor’s request also covered other defendants for whom he requested sentences of between four and five years in prison for money laundering. According to the case, Fariña contacted the real estate company that was in charge of a sector of the countryside with the aim of developing a real estate venture. In 2011, the operation was carried out through the firm Traline S.A., which was based in Uruguay and was presided over by Maximiliano Acosta, who was later succeeded by Maximiliano Goff Dávila, two of the defendants in the caseAcosta, Goff Dávila and Pérez Gadín are accused in the case as accomplices of Báez, as well as Jorge Oscar Chueco and Osvaldo Ghutux.
