After the disappointing elimination from the League Cup, the president of Independiente and Chief of Staff of the City of Buenos Aires, Néstor Grindetti, spoke about the economic possibilities that the club has to make additions due to inherited inhibitions. In an interview with DSports Radio, he explained that “we need time to lift the inhibitions we inherited” and that more than five million dollars are needed to cancel the outstanding debts and be able to move forward with possible incorporations. “The two big inhibitions that fell on us are really complex,” he said. In addition, Grindetti referred to the figure of Carlos Tevez and his understanding of the club’s financial situation. “Carlos understands it and puts his heart into the situation,” he said and was optimistic about the future of the club: “God willing we are going to enter an international cup and that is income that the club needs. From that moment on, things are going to be much better.” Then, he mentioned the situation of goalkeeper Rodrigo Rey, who expressed his intentions to stay at the Avellaneda club: “He really wants to stay and so do we. We are on the verge of agreement.” And, finally, he addressed the issue of Hugo Tocalli, who could leave the club due to differences with the current management: “He will continue to be part of this project. We’ll have a coffee tomorrow.”
