With an extensive career behind her, Soledad Pastorutti turned 40 with one of the most loyal albums she really is.
The new album, “Part of Me”, is also one of the milestones that mark his 25-year career. “This is the most intimate and feminine record I’ve ever made,” he says.
How is “Part of Me” born?
Well, I’ve been working on this record for three years. There was a doubt in me about where am I still? What should I do? So I set out to make this record something different from what I had already addressed on other occasions and make it more mine than ever. I started delving into songs I already had written, some of them were bits kept out there, others were almost ready songs and I started to accumulate these songs, put them together and group them together in one place.
On this album you also have many collaborations…
The truth is, yes, and if it had been for me, I would have had more. I love sharing the music. Music is one of the few things that can be shared even with some difference between artists, between the way of singing, of addressing a song, even of thinking. Music unifies.
How does Carlos Vives appear to produce “Part of E”?
Between that back and going, on one of my trips to Buenos Aires the president of Sony in Argentina tells me “there is someone waiting for you in my office” and when I went, Carlos Vives appears, whom I already knew, and proposes to work on my record. He proposes to help me compose new songs and the truth I could not tell him no because if there is someone whom I see as a reference of Latin music is Carlos.
How was the work together?
It was a lot of fun. I was cycling to the hotel with Martin, his partner in what production is, and the truth is that it was very nice. We started early with a lot of energy, putting the first chords to the songs and suddenly we split in two, Martin took more care of the music and with Carlos we were more with the lyrics. He’s very energetic, not for ever.
