Turf gave a historic show at the Gran Rex: great guests, new songs and their timeless hits

The night of Saturday, May 13 was historic for Turf since for the first time the eclectic band played at the prestigious theater on Av. Corrientes to present the songs of their latest album, “Renacimiento”, and give their audience their timeless hits. The night began punctually and before a full Gran Rex the group of Joaquín Levinton, Fernando Caloia, Leandro Lopatín, Nicolás Ottavianelli, Carlos Tapia began the recital with “Viene llegando”, from his first album Una pila de vida. (Joaquín Levinton and Leandro Lopatín / ph @luligk.ph) In line with the name of the album that marked the rebirth of the band, the night was dressed in a Renaissance aesthetic: Levington, the rest of the band and even the backup singers came on stage with clothes typical of the artistic movement and the decoration of the stage included sculptures, arches and columns that recreated the time. The weather was set and they played their roles.“The name of the album is a typical Turf humor that can also be a play on words or even graphic as in our album, but in reality what we are manifesting is a new rebirth of the group”, said Joaquin in an interview with this media, in the run-up to this great night for his band. The concert was attended by great guests: the first was Diego Demarco, member of Los Auténticos Decadentes, a group with which they recently released the song “Sentimientos encontrados”. (Joaquin Levinton and Juliana Gattas / ph @luligk.ph) Then came Juliana Gattas de Miranda! for a cover of “Kurt Cobain”. Then Coco (Gabriel Orozco) from Usted señalemelo would join accompanying on the guitars of “Ese ser” and finally Santiago Motorizado arrived to sing with Levington his hit “Loco un poco”. True to his style, throughout the concert the frontman De la banda interacted with the audience and the other members of the band, received gifts and posters, walked the stairs of the theater, got into the crowd and gave an almost cartoonish and very cheerful show, with its irony and histrionics of always. (A full Big Rex harangued alongside the band/ph @luligk.ph) The band said goodbye with a cover of “Lamento boliviano” and perhaps two of their most endearing songs: “Pasos al lado” and “Yo No Me Quiero Casar, y Usted?”. Towards the end of the recital a group of hooded men took the stage to intervene the neat Renaissance setting and decorated it with graffiti and aerosols, while destroying the sculptures and columns. At that time the Gran Rex was a party and, despite being gathered in a theater, the audience jumped and harangued with the band. “I hope they take this memory with them forever”, Levington closed with his chutzpah, capping a night of rock, togetherness and rebirth.
